Located just outside Telluride, nestled deep in the San Juan Mountains of the Colorado Rockies, Dunton Hot Springs breathes new life into a 19th-century ghost town. The 13 unique log cabins are rustic yet luxe, with heated slate floors and handpicked antiques; but fur a truly incredible getaway, opt for Christy’s Tent, an all-season platform tent with a gas stove, ensuite bathroom, and chandelier hanging above the bed. The Resort at Paws Up – Montana
With 37,000 acres of undeveloped land, 100 miles of trails, and 10 miles of the Blackfoot River, The Resort at Paws Up, located just east of Missoula, Montana, is essentially a private National Park. Ventana Big Sur – California
Perched 1,200 feet above one of the most dramatic stretches of the state’s Central Coast are 15 double-occupancy “glamp-sites” at Ventana Big Sur. The safari-style canvas tent is the perfect
setting to enjoy views of the surrounding 20-acre redwood canyon. By day, explore the area’s hidden coves, hiking trails, and breathtaking views of the Pacific, and by night, light up the fire pit, make s’mores, and enjoy a meal or picnic basket from the resort’s restaurants. Shared bathhouse facilities offer teak-enclosed showers and heated floors, while tents include electric lamps, sinks with hot and cold water, picnic tables, and both wood-burning and propane fire pits.
Nayara Tented Camp – Costa Rica
If you are looking for an international glamping experience, Nayara Tented Camp, set within Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano National Park, could be just the ticket. 21 luxurious cliffside accommodations offer views of the active volcano and surrounding rainforest, which you can enjoy while you relax in your beautiful canopy bed or from your private plunge pool. On-property, guests have access to 7 warm-spring pools, a wildlife preserve reforested with more than 1,000 cecropia trees to support its 15 sloths, morning yoga sessions, and an espresso bar. Off-property, nature guides lead canopy tours via hanging bridges, treks across lava fields, and visits to local coffee farms.
